100K workers returned to work after NCR’s shift to Alert Level 2
About 100,000 workers are expected to return to their jobs as Metro Manila is downgraded to Alert Level 2, according to the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
In a virtual briefing, DTI Secretary Ramon Lopez said that the number is based on their estimates before the alert level in the capital region was downgraded.
Lopez also highlighted the projected ₱3.6 billion weekly revenues with the region’s Alert Level 2 status as computed by the National Economic and Development Authority. He explained that various sectors are feeling optimistic about the upcoming Holiday season compared to last year.
Under Alert Level 2, more establishments are permitted to open and businesses were granted higher additional capacities.
With these changes, Lopez appealed to business owners and mall operators to strictly observe minimum public health standards to prevent another surge of COVID-19 cases.
Metro Manila will be under Alert Level 2 from November 5 to 21.
