4 in 10 European employers struggle to attract talent
About 42% of employers in Europe are struggling to attract new employees to their organizations, said HR & payroll services provider SD Worx.
Through a poll of 4371 companies, SD Worx revealed that the war for talent remains the biggest challenge in the labor market.
Out of all the European countries, companies in Belgium are struggling the most in finding new talent, with 65%. The Netherlands and Ireland took the second and third places with 54% and 53%, respectively.
Six in ten European employers reported it is currently taking longer than usual to fill their job vacancies, while 56% find it particularly difficult to find candidates with the right skills.
To address this dilemma, 1 in 2 employers stated that they are retraining their employees or are deploying them elsewhere in the organization. Internal mobility is more common in the United Kingdom (61%), Poland (61%), and Italy (57%).
Others are offering flexible working hours, a pleasant working atmosphere and social environment, job security and financial stability, meaningful and challenging work, and attention to training and development opportunities.
SD Worx Chief HR Officer Cathy Geerts said, “Our research confirms that employers in Europe will have to be inventive in the search for the most suitable profiles. Attention to the possible learning curve and the adaptability of potential candidates for a job is a must.”
