Accenture to acquire edtech firm Udacity
CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES — Outsourcing firm Accenture is set to acquire educational software provider Udacity.
Udacity’s 230 workers will join Accenture LearnVantage — the company’s new tech learning center.
Accenture will invest $1 billion over the next three years in the program to provide clients with upskilling and reskilling opportunities in technology, data, and artificial intelligence (AI).
Udacity will aid in this initiative as the firm that offers online courses for university students and professionals.
Founded in 2011, Udacity has built a network of more than 1,400 experts and a library of content co-created with industry leaders.
It has served more than 21 million registered learners in 195 countries. Its courses are in multiple languages, including English, Arabic, and Korean. and Spanish.
“The addition of Udacity to Accenture LearnVantage will enable us to bring Accenture’s deep capabilities as a world-class learning organization to clients at scale, helping them build the skills of their people to achieve greater business value,” said Kishore Durg, global lead of Accenture LearnVantage.
Prior to the deal with Accenture, Udacity was in the advanced stages of a takeover from Indian edtech company Upgrad for $80 million.
Accenture ranked #1 in the 2024 OA500, an objective index of the world’s top 500 outsourcing companies. This is the second year the company clinched the index’s top spot.
