All PH private firms now allowed to procure COVID-19 vaccines
Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque announced that all private companies, including cigarette firms, are now allowed to procure COVID-19 vaccines due to the amendments on the COVID-19 vaccination law.
However, since the vaccines are not yet commercially available, private firms must buy COVID-19 shots through a tripartite deal with the national government. The deal requires companies to give half of their procured vaccines to the government.
Roque further clarified that the tripartite agreement can still be amended. “I think, if the document is used, there will still be a donation to the government. But I could be wrong because the tripartite agreement might be amended, the model form, as a result of the passage of the law. Let’s just wait,” he added.
