ATC to build 500 towers a year in support of digital transformation
Independent tower company Alliance Towers Corporation (ATC) vowed to build 500 towers every year to support the Philippines’ telecommunications industry and digital transformation.
In a statement, ATC said that the additional towers will help improve digital connectivity in the country since it needs to build 50,000 towers to meet its current shortfall.
These efforts will also address the demand for fast, stable, and reliable internet connectivity in the Philippines.
ATC President and COO Alvin Tolentino said that COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the need for “fast and reliable internet connectivity to enable digital transformation.”
However, Tolentino noted that “there is a wide gap between the number of subscribers and the cell sites here in the Philippines to provide the bandwidth and connectivity that the Filipinos demand.”
ATC’s commitment to go full speed in building new towers will help its Telco partners — namely Globe Telecom, Dito Telecommunity, and PLDT — provide better service to its consumers.
The demand for new towers in the Philippines is driven by the increase in capacity requirements, 4G and 5G expansion, emergence of new telco players, and the government’s “common tower policy.”
ATC managed to build over 40 towers at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
