DOLE to increase the quota for PWD employees
The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in the Philippines is looking to increase the recruitment quota for persons with disabilities (PWDs) in both public and private companies.
According to DOLE Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma, the agency is looking to increase the recruitment quota of PWDs in all government positions from one per cent to at least two per cent.
He added that they also aim to make the quota system mandatory for private establishments with over 100 employees.
“We vow to continue pushing for the rights of the workers with disabilities toward personal and societal advancement,” Laguesma noted.
Under the country’s current regulations, at least one per cent of all positions in government agencies, offices, or corporations should be reserved for PWDs.
Meanwhile, private firms with over 100 workers are encouraged to reserve at least one per cent of all positions for PWDs.
