Egypt strengthens position as tech and outsourcing leader

CAIRO, EGYPT — Egypt is solidifying its status as a global hub for technology and outsourcing services.
Amr Talaat, the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, highlighted these developments during his recent visit to Dell Technologies’ Center of Excellence (COE).
Talaat emphasized the strategic advantages Egypt offers to international companies aiming to expand their operations, citing the nation’s competitive edge in the tech industry.
Skilled workforce and robust infrastructure
Ahmed El Zaher, CEO of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), reinforced Talaat’s sentiments by pointing out Egypt’s unique combination of a vast, young, and highly skilled talent pool.
With approximately 740,000 university graduates annually, 28% specializing in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) fields, Egypt provides a robust workforce equipped to meet global tech demands.
This talent pool is supported by strong infrastructure and government policies that make Egypt an attractive outsourcing destination.
Dell Technologies’ impact on Egypt’s tech scene
Dell Technologies’ COE in Egypt, inaugurated in 2009, exemplifies the country’s growing influence in the global tech landscape. As one of four such centers worldwide, it serves multiple regions, including the Middle East, Africa, America, and Asia.
Mohamed Amin, Senior Vice-President for Central Eastern Europe, Middle East, Turkey, and Africa at Dell Technologies, highlighted the transformative role of artificial intelligence (AI) in shaping Egypt’s digital future.
“AI is playing a transformative role in shaping Egypt’s digital future, and we are committed to advancing its integration for broader societal benefits,” he stated.
Amin reiterated Dell’s commitment to integrating AI for broader societal benefits.
Significant growth in the outsourcing industry
Egypt’s outsourcing services sector has experienced remarkable growth, increasing by 54.2% to $3.7 billion in the fiscal year 2022-2023, up from $2.4 billion in the previous fiscal year. This surge underscores Egypt’s potential as a central hub for technology and innovation.
The success of Dell Technologies’ COE over the past 15 years further demonstrates Egypt’s capacity to foster a thriving environment for global delivery operations.
Future outlook: Expanding global influence
Looking ahead, Minister Talaat encourages more international companies to leverage Egypt’s competitive advantages. With continuous investments in infrastructure and talent development,
Egypt is poised to play a pivotal role in the future of global technology and outsourcing services. As it enhances its position on the world stage, Egypt aims to attract further international interest and investment in its burgeoning tech sector.
