Ghana promotes its ‘favorable’ BPO environment
Ghana has a favorable Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) environment due to its political stability, human capital, and economy, said Ghana Digital Centres Limited (GDCL) Head of Operations David Ofori.
During a tech entrepreneurs forum, Ofri stated that Ghana’s ICT sector was high by regional standards, with about 80% of the population living within access to a GSM (Global System for Mobile communication) signal.
BPO costs in the country are also 60 to 70% lower than in other source markets.
As the world moves towards a pst-pandemic society, the GDCL official believes that remote working is now part of the “new normal” and will continue to do so in the foreseeable future.
To better regulate the entry of foreign outsourcing investors, Ofori suggests submitting the appropriate information, data security provisions, and the electronic monitoring of the output of individuals.
He added that going forward, the traditional focus on physical access control to secure sites would need to shift to include logical security mechanisms such as electronic access and technical controls to prevent exfiltration of information to private systems.
Ofori concluded his speech by pointing out that foreign companies who will use Ghana as an entry point to Africa could “serve as a knowledge transfer for the continent.”
