Google Cloud to open new regions in four countries
Google Cloud is planning to launch new regions in Germany, Israel, Saudi Arabia, and the United States as part of its global infrastructure improvement plan.
These new centers will join another newly-built fully-operational Chile region in the company’s expanding operations.
According to Google Cloud Vice President and General Manager for Infrastructure Sachin Gupta, so far this 2021, the tech giant has opened new regions in Warsaw (Poland), Delhi NCR (India), Melbourne (Australia), and Toronto (Canada).
He also emphasized the firm’s environment-friendly initiatives, claiming it to be the “cleanest cloud in the industry.”
Gupta noted that “Google was the first organization of its size to become carbon neutral in 2007, and we were the first major company to match 100% of our electricity consumption with renewable energy starting in 2017 and every year since then.”
As the company works on reaching carbon-free energy by 2030, Google will continue to offer cloud infrastructure and tools to their clients to lessen their environmental impact.
The firm currently operates in 29 cloud regions and 88 zones across the world.
