Hybrid work drives biometrics, digital ID adoption

MANILA, PHILIPPINES – The shift to hybrid work arrangements helped accelerate the demand for biometric technologies and digital ID, said global identity and physical solutions firm HID.
In a poll, HID revealed that 59% of 2,700 respondents currently use, plan to implement, or testing biometric technologies in their companies.
“Using biometrics as an additional authenticating factor, such as biometric scans to verify an individual’s physical identity, can help organizations eliminate unauthorized access and fraud,” the firm explained.
As companies implement hybrid work arrangements, HID added that there is a growing need to embrace the identity “as-a-service (IDaas).”
Meanwhile, 67% said multifactor and passwordless authentications are crucial to the hybrid setup, while 48% said mobile and digital IDs are also necessary.
In the Philippines, companies — especially outsourcing agencies — can implement hybrid or full remote working arrangements depending on the Investment Promotion Agencies (IPAs) they are registered with.
