IBPAP proposes national fund to push the Philippines as a KPO hub

The Information Technology and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP) believes that there is a need for a national college upscaling fund to ensure that the Philippines becomes a global knowledge process outsourcing (KPO) hub. IBPAP trustee Jonathan de Luzuriaga said there is currently no such fund in the Philippines, and both the government and industry players will need to work together to establish such an upscaling fund. The fund will help to facilitate training to those in the industry through partnership with the academe and industry players, and will also help the academe upgrade and update their current curricula to better match job requirements. The Philippines has been trying to position itself as a ‘Knowledge Capital’ in the world in recent years, and this funding initiative will give that message a stronger push, said Luzuriaga.
