IT, BPO sectors tops recruitment in India
India’s Information Technology (IT) and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industries are among the top sectors with the highest number of job postings during the first quarter of FY23, with 21% and 10%, respectively.
According to a study by financial daily newspaper Mint and job and recruitment portal Shine.com, IT and BPO firms are the “biggest guzzlers” for recruits as they doubled down on expansion plans and entered new sectors after the COVID-19 pandemic lull.
Digital marketers, in particular, are the most sought-after employees with 37.2% of recruiters on the lookout for those who are well versed with IT and Python.
Overall, India’s job postings rose by 1.6 times more in April-June compared to the first three months of the year as companies go into a “hiring frenzy.”
Aside from IT and BPO, job listings in the BFSI (banking and financial services), insurance, and recruitment services industries also rose significantly by 16%, 9%, and 9%, respectively.
