Midas BPO recruits 150 Guyanese youth, another 150 to be hired by June
Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) provider Midas BPO already hired 150 young employees in their new office in Linden, Guyana just four months after launching its operations.
Another 150 recruits are expected to join the company by June.
Midas BPO CEO Malcolm Sober said that the company has created a “new wave of job creation” and delivered a “great economic impact” in the mining town.
Sober stated that “the payroll alone drives a lot of activities for Linden every month” as people use the money to spend right back into the community.
Midas BPO’s Linden expansion was due to a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between the Guyana Office of Investment (GO-Invest) and Sobers last September.
Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Hugh Todd noted that the firm’s success is a testament to President Irfaan Ali’s vision of balanced development throughout the country.
Todd remarked that this will drive economic activity and create jobs in the city.
Midas BPO’s Linden operation falls in line with the government’s promise to use the ICT sector to address unemployment in Guyana.
