Nearly half of Filipinos are resigning to find better pay
The search for better-paying jobs remains the critical driver of resignation in the Philippines, followed by career growth and flexibility, according to a study by multinational professional services firm Ernst & Young (EY).
In its latest EY 2022 Work Reimagined Survey, which covered 50 employers and 300 employees from the Philippines, 41% of respondents said they would likely quit their jobs in the next 12 months.
Of those already planning their resignation, 49% stated that a salary increase is their primary objective, while 33% are looking for career growth.
Meanwhile, 53% of surveyed respondents said pay increases are the key to addressing staff turnover. However, only 18% of employers agree with this solution.
Flexible working arrangements – the main point of debate last year – are now less of a driver, given that most are already working for companies that offer flexibility in some form.
EY Global People Advisory Services deputy leader and Workforce Advisory leader Liz Fealy said that the latest survey shows that employees feel more empowered to leave jobs if their expectations are not met.
