Nearly half of non- IT grads in South Korea want to enter the IT sector
About 46% of fresh college graduates in South Korea with non-IT majors are interested in getting a job in the IT industry.
According to a survey from hiring platform Saramin, 59.5% of respondents said that they want to enter the industry “because it is a promising job.”
Meanwhile, 49.9% said that they want to be in the IT field because of its high demand for manpower, 42.4% said that they wanted to get better salaries, and 17% said that they wanted to have a central job in a tech firm.
Among all segments, web development was the most common IT job that respondents wanted to work for with 38.5%.
At the same time, 40.6% of non-tech majors said that they were preparing to get a job in IT by taking a developer training course, taking a course related to coding, and studying through lectures and books related to coding.
If they could turn back time, 68.4% of the total respondents said they would like to change their college major to anything related to IT or Computer courses.
Saramin surveyed 1,510 job seekers without IT majors in South Korea.
