Negros-based BPOs told to end contractualization
At least 118 business owners, human resource managers, representatives of business process outsourcing firms and other businesses have participated in a series of orientations conducted the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Regional Office 6 as part of efforts to end contractualization. DOLE 6 director Johnson Canete said the orientations will continue until the region achieves its target of making at least 15,000 contractual workers into regular employees. Canete said the regional DOLE office is employing two types of approach to ensure that employers comply with the order to end contractualization. The first is educating employers on their legal basis of regularization, and encouraging them to voluntarily comply on the directive of the present administration. The second is by the issuance of an official compliance order in cases when the employer refuses to settle findings on security of tenure, based on inspection.
