Outsourcing industry logs 82K volunteer hours in 2024
MANILA, PHILIPPINES — The outsourcing industry demonstrated a significant commitment to corporate social responsibility in 2024, as detailed in the Outsourcing Impact Review (OIR).
This year, companies logged an impressive 82,808 volunteer hours, reflecting a 73.3% increase from the previous year’s 47,791 hours.
This surge indicates a strategic shift towards direct community engagement and underscores the industry’s dedication to societal impact.
Strategic shift: Emphasizing volunteerism over financial contributions
Now in its second year, the OIR highlights the industry’s growing emphasis on community involvement and social initiatives.
The rise in volunteer hours suggests a move towards hands-on involvement. Financial contributions decreased from $5.5 million in 2023 to $821,430 in 2024, highlighting a focus on fostering meaningful community connections through active participation rather than monetary donations.
Derek Gallimore, CEO of Outsource Accelerator, noted: “The OIR 2024 Awards and Report highlight the outsourcing industry’s unwavering commitment to creating positive change. The sector continues to demonstrate its ability to drive significant social impact through innovative programs and dedicated employee engagement.”
Education and community building lead initiatives
Education initiatives accounted for 42.1% of all submissions this year, reflecting a focus on long-term societal development.
Community building and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives followed closely behind, each representing 21.1% of submissions.
These efforts align with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including Quality Education (SDG 4) and Reduced Inequalities (SDG 10).
