PH falls 21 spots in 2022 Global Knowledge Index

MANILA, PHILIPPINES — The country lands on the 77th spot out of 132 in Knowledge 4 All Foundation’s (K4A) Global Knowledge Index, dropping by 21 spots compared to the previous cycle. 

In 2021, the Philippines ranked 56th out of 123 countries. In 2020, the country took the 60th spot out of 132 countries. 

The index by the London-based non-profit organization assesses countries’ expertise in education, innovation, knowledge, economy, technology, and research and development. The Philippines scored a mediocre 44.1 out of 100 points based on the metrics mentioned. 

K4A also assessed the country’s number of graduates from information and communications technology (ICT) programs, as well as its high-technology trade, or its imports and exports involving computers, electronics, telecommunications, pharmacy, scientific instruments, chemistry, and armaments.

The non-profit organization also looked into how the country’s 15-year-old students perform in math, science, and reading, individuals with standard ICT skills, and its ICT patent applications in the categories of audio-visual technology, basic communication processes, computer technology, digital communication, IT methods for management, semiconductors, and telecommunications.
