PH industries back to pre-pandemic levels by year-end, says MAP
Most industries in the Philippines will most likely be back to their pre-pandemic levels by the end of 2022, according to the Management Association of the Philippines (MAP).
During its Annual General Membership Meeting and Management of the Year 2022 Awarding Ceremony, MAP President Rogelio Singson said that the sectors are now benefitting from economic recovery and eased mobility restrictions across the country.
“Overall, the outlook is positive,” Singson stated.
However, the MAP chief revealed that the real estate industry might continue to face challenges due to the departure of Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs).
To make up for this, the association is offering several recommendations to the government that will enable further economic recovery after the COVID-19 pandemic.
This includes creating industry roadmaps in key industries — such as tourism, creative, agriculture, agribusiness, forestry, manufacturing, construction, responsible mining, Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) — to generate more job opportunities for Filipinos.
MAP is also pressing for a better investment climate to attract “greater and more diverse job-creating investments for more Filipinos” and make “overseas employment would merely be a choice for our workers rather than a necessity.”
