PH still world’s leading IT-BPM center — ASoG

MANILA, PHILIPPINES — The Philippines is still regarded as the leading center for Information Communication-Business Processing Management (IT-BPM) in the world, according to the Ateneo School of Government (ASoG).
During the launch of its United States-Philippines Economic Impact Study, ASoG Senior Research Fellow Dr. Nadia Doytch said that as an outsourcing destination for contact services, “the Philippines is number one in terms of [IT-BPM] market share.”
Doytch added that investments from U.S. companies largely contributed to the industry’s success.
From 2003-2021, a total of US$7.81 billion was allotted for the local IT-BPM industry, one-third of the U.S. greenfield investments in the Philippines.
Through this investment, 65 companies were established outside the National Capital Region (NCR).
In addition, about US$6.6 billion was invested in establishing operations in the country, with Concentrix having the most significant portion, followed by ibex and Startek.
“As the Board of Investments cited in 2022, the Philippines is considered as a top global destination for voice-related services,” added Doytch.
However, with these figures, Doytch also stated that the local IT-BPM sector must “strengthen its training to elevate the level of workforce competency and productivity.”
