PH-US celebrates 75 years of diplomatic ties
The Philippines and the United States have launched campaigns to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic relations last week.
Manila’s envoy to the U.S. Jose Manuel Romualdez and U.S. Acting Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Sung Kim, led the kickoff event – the unveiling of the official logo of the 75th Anniversary of PH-US Diplomatic Relations.
The Philippine Embassy in the United States, in partnership with the U.S. Embassy in the Philippines, US-ASEAN Business Council, and U.S. Chamber of Commerce, also organized “PH-US at 75: Strengthening Ties through Sustainable Recovery | A Virtual Economic Briefing,” a virtual event that celebrates the anniversary of this diplomatic relationship.
In the event held yesterday, government officials from both countries discussed prospects to enhance two-way trade and investments, as well as their pandemic response and economic recovery plans.
Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi also urged US firms to invest in geothermal projects. “On the renewables sector, we are inviting private sectors to develop the geothermal, that’s an area we would really like to tap, develop, that’s the kind of power that we need,” he added.
