‘Plug and play’ offices in Cebu soars after typhoon
Several “plug and play” office facilities are being leased out by Technology and Business Process Management (IT-BPM) firms in Cebu following the aftermath of Typhoon Odette, said property consultancy firm Colliers.
Colliers Senior Manager of Cebu Service Office Winston Luna stated that IT-BPM players are choosing to sign short-term leases in such facilities until electricity is restored to their employees’ residences.
This move is part of the industry’s business continuity plans (BCP) after Odette caused a disruption in business operations.
Luna added that “many occupiers searched for such options across Metro Cebu, while others even flew their employees to unaffected cities, including Metro Manila.”
However, companies are facing several challenges in the office market even before the typhoon — including high competition, flexible lease terms, number of seats, generator set capacity, internet connection, and air conditioning.
Due to COVID-19, the government is also prompting employers to observe social distancing in workplaces
Luna noted that “flexible workspace providers should gauge interest for fitted spaces in the market and create more plug and play facilities that capture the evolving needs of occupiers.”
