Remote employees turn to tech for upskilling, support
Stressed-out employees across the globe are increasingly turning to technology to meet the evolving nature of workplaces amid the pandemic, according to a study conducted by HR research and advisory firm Workplace Intelligence and commissioned by software giant Oracle.
The study, done through an online survey of more than 14,600 across 13 countries, showed that 85% of the global workforce are not satisfied with their employer’s efforts in upskilling their talents.
Meanwhile, 85% are open to using technology — such as robots, digital assistants, and chatbots — to help define their future careers.
As mental health becomes a priority for employees, 80% of respondents are willing to have robots as therapists or counselors at work, and 83% would like their companies to provide support for their mental health.
Oracle Cloud HCM senior VP Yvette Cameron said that the “stress, anxiety, and loneliness of the global pandemic” empowered employees to speak up for what they want in their workplaces.
Cameron added that business leaders need to prioritize upskilling and providing personalized career journeys to their employees to attract and retain talent in their organizations.
