Remote working expands tech skills gap, says Pluralsight
Working remotely is widening the skills gaps of employees in the tech industry, said American software company Pluralsight.
According to their latest survey, which was conducted with over 600 tech executives and practitioners, four in 10 companies have found an increasing gap in cybersecurity and cloud computing skills from their workers, among other tech skills.
Pluralsight stated in the report that upskilling employees can be the main solution to address this problem. However, tech professionals are saying that they are too preoccupied with their work to attend training conferences.
In addition, budget constraints and a distracting home environment are affecting the upskilling efforts that companies are giving to their workforces.
The survey also stated that 62% of firms are offering online development courses for their staff, but only half of them have used the resources in the last 12 months. About 47% of employers invested in virtual instructor-led training, but only one in three employees have attended the classes.
