SA-based social impact platform expands operations to combat unemployment
South Africa-based social impact platform Metropolitan Collective Shapers is expanding its operations to combat the increasing unemployment issue in the country.
Launching in the city of Tshwane, Metropolitan aims to “invigorate youth economically” by providing knowledge, skills, and a sustainable future to young entrepreneurs in the country.
By garnering the already present entrepreneurial passion that the young people already have in an area, the program aims to instill generational knowledge and new ways of running already existing businesses.
The initiative will be rolled out in partnership with BPO Skills Academy, an accredited education services organization that provides specialist skills development and job creation programs for the youth in South Africa.
Metropolitan is also partnering with Value Ed, an organization that offers developmental programs online for future leaders.
Phumla Mavundla, Head of Marketing: Product and Channel at Metropolitan, said that they are committed to the social advancement of South Africa.
“As a brand that is passionate about community and youth development, we understand that the influence on a person can trickle into the broader community. With this initiative, Metropolitan hopes to enable sustainable business development for generations to come,” Mavundla added.
The business program will run for five months and will cater to start-ups in the food and hospitality sector.
