Singapore’s remote job postings drop 25%
The number of remote job postings in Singapore decreased by about 25% since the beginning of the year, according to employment website Indeed.
In their latest report, Indeed disclosed that the share of job postings in Singapore that features keywords such as “remote” and “work from home” only reached 7.4% at the end of May compared to February’s above 10% figure.
While remote postings in the city-state are still higher than pre-COVID-19, the report said that it is also one of the few advanced economies to have experienced a meaningful decline in its remote posting share.
On the other hand, the findings also showed that Singapore’s jobseekers remain intent on working remotely.
About 3.6% of Singapore searches on Indeed’s job portal are for remote work showing that there is no decline in jobseeker interest for remote roles this year.
Indeed APAC Senior Economist Callam Pickering said, “Singapore workers have been seeking greater flexibility and autonomy in the way they work and this has intensified since the onset of the pandemic. Many businesses, on the other hand, may view remote and hybrid work as temporary, in stark contrast to the trends we’ve observed globally.”
