SLASSCOM conference to prop IT-BPM sector to generate $5bn by 2025

Sri Lanka Association of Software Services Companies (SLASSCOM) recently held Digital IT/BPM Week to prop the sector to generate $5 billion in export revenue and foreign investments by 2025.
SLASSCOM pegs that an export-centric IT-BPM sector can generate 200,000 jobs and 1,000 start-ups in three years.
The Digital IT/BPM Week is a platform to create awareness on the opportunities available in the industry and to encourage more tech professionals, start-ups, and entrepreneurs.
The program provided its attendees’ awareness of the opportunities available in the industry and encouraged more tech professionals, start-ups, and entrepreneurs.
It also gave information on how to obtain IT education, how to be ready to face the challenges of the industry as a professional, and to flourish as start-ups gaining global recognition.
The event carried out over 10 online sessions, spanning five days, attracting over 500 participants for each session from each of the nine provinces of the country.
The participants were comprised of students, parents, university students, job seekers, young IT professionals, IT educators, entrepreneurs, start-ups, as well as key personnel from established IT/BPM companies of the country.
