Tech salaries increased by 5% as remote work rises
The average global tech salaries in most cities in the United States increased by 5% as more companies hire remote employees, according to a report from the AI-driven hiring marketplace Hired.
In its newly released report called Hiring in the Great Resignation: 2021 State of Tech Salaries, the online job platform found out that the shift to a remote work model has impacted tech salaries across different markets, roles, and industries.
In one of its findings, Hired reported that the increased demand for junior tech candidates lowered overall salary averages in New York City and San Francisco between 2020 and 2021. However, salaries for candidates with experience in the field increased across all markets.
In addition, the research said that companies are hiring faster to keep up with the talent demand, with 30 days to hire in the US and 34 days in the United Kingdom, down 25% on average compared to last year.
Hired CEO Josh Brenner said that “the majority of open job positions on Hired’s marketplace are now open to remote – a 5x increase since January 2020.” He added that remote work preferences “are also at a record high” with over 90%.
Moreover, the CEO noted in the report that while Great Resignation causes high turnover in companies, this can also be seen as an “incredible opportunity” to recruit the best and diverse talents on the market.
