Teleperformance to invest $28Mn in Trinidad and Tobago
Leading digitally integrated business services provider Teleperformance (TP) will invest $28 million to start the firm’s operations in Trinidad and Tobago.
According to Minister of Trade and Industry Paula Gopee-Scoon, TP is expected to hire 60 employees in its initial run, with plans to hire up to 1000 more workers by year-end.
Gopee-Scoon is confident that the foreign company’s arrival in Trinidad and Tobago will improve the country’s economic standing while also offering valuable skills training to the young population.
“What we hope to have here is where the key positions at the senior levels would also be filled by our nationals so there will be that training and upskilling and opportunities so that eventually it becomes wholly operated by TT nationals,” the minister added.
Meanwhile, Teleperformance Latin America CEO Andres Gutierrez said that this move is part of the company’s strategic expansion in LatAm and the Caribbean.
He added that they are expecting “to grow along with Trinidadians and Tobagonians and contribute together to the economic development of the country.”
Last year, Teleperformace attracted $48.7 million in the LatAm region and created 20,000 jobs over the last two years.
