US company Accenture Plc has mocked the digital offerings of Indian firm Tata Consultancy Services Ltd (TCS), the first time a company in the sector has done so towards a competitor. A statement from the website of Accenture X.O. (an umbrella branding under which Accenture provides manufacturers with business solutions using data analytics, cloud computing, and the internet of things), which read “Industry 3.0, 4.0—what’s next?” is an apparent attack on TSC’s Business 4.0 digital offering amid a war to win digital business from the same clients. Industry experts said Accenture’s attack on TCS’s offerings indicates that it considers it as its rival for digital deals. Phil Fersht, chief executive of US-based HFS Research, said Accenture definitely sees TCS as a major threat across IT delivery areas. He added Accenture is not facing the heat but is instead striving to stay ahead of it, as Accenture sees the industry consolidating and commoditizing. Accenture is currently almost twice the size of TCS, posting 13.5% growth with USD39.57bn in revenue, while TCS recorded 9.6% growth with USD20.91bn in revenue in the year ended March 2019.
