The World Bank Philippines issued an apology to the Philippine government and the Department of Education (DepEd) for \u201cinadvertently\u201d releasing a report on the poor learning outcomes of Filipino students.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n On its website, World Bank PH posted the statement saying, \u201cWe deeply regret that the report on education was inadvertently published earlier than scheduled and before the Department of Education had enough chance to provide inputs.\u201d <\/span>The bank also claimed that there \u201coversight on our part.\u201d<\/p>\n This is in response to DepEd Secretary Leonor Briones\u2019 interview last July 5 on how the World Bank \u201cinsulted\u201d and \u201cshamed\u201d the country after releasing an outdated report. \u201cI believe DepEd deserves a public apology. No less,\u201d the secretary added.<\/span><\/p>\n The World Bank reportedly reached out to Briones and is looking \u201cforward to continuing our dialogue with the Department of Education on the opportunities and challenges in the education sector.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
