MANILA, PHILIPPINES \u2014 The Philippine healthcare industry is emerging as a \u201cvery bright spot\u201d\u00a0 for the Information Technology and Business Process Management (IT-BPM) industry, said industry body IT and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n With many registered nurses, the Philippines is the second-largest supplier of United States-registered nurses.<\/span><\/p>\n IBPAP President Jack Madrid expressed his wish for even more nurses, as they are in high demand domestically and internationally.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Recently, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) revealed that the participation of Philippine Healthcare Information Management Services (HIMS) companies in a trade and investment show resulted in initial sales of $72.9 million while generating potential direct investments of $13 million.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Meanwhile, Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) Director General Tereso Panga expressed hopes to attract big-ticket investments and strategic industries to make the Philippines a leading industry player in HIMS and other related industries.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Apart from healthcare, Madrid said that the Philippine IT-BPM industry would continue to be driven by the contact center segment, especially for North American firms.<\/span><\/p>\n He also expressed optimism that the industry can achieve its targets of 1.7 million full-time employees and $35.9 billion in revenues this year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI think the targets at the beginning of the year are within reach,\u201d the IBPAP chief stated.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The Philippine IT-BPM sector is projected to receive investments in various sectors, including animation and game development, cybersecurity, fintech, healthcare, internet service providers, IT solutions, and IT-shared services.<\/span><\/p>\n
