3 Indian BPOs to expand in Davao

Three India-based Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) companies are interested in expanding their operations to Davao City, Philippines.
According to ICT Davao President Samuel Matunog, they already met the representatives of these firms to discuss human resources requirements and the availability of office spaces in economic zones managed by the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA).
Matunog said that he is excited about this expansion as it would open more employment opportunities in the sector.
He added that “every person who gets employed in the BPO industry is one less poor in our community.”
Among these companies is healthcare outsourcing provider AGS Health. The firm is reportedly planning to hire 1,500 agents within the first three years of operations in the city.
Meanwhile, although Matunog did not name the other two BPO providers, the ICT Davao official said that one of them is a firm that already has several offices in the country while the other one is a multinational IT firm.
“The presence of these companies [means] there will be more competition for qualified talent. But their investment will ensure that our current cohort of college students of more than 80,000 will have a ready market for their talents,” Matunog concluded.
