30%-40% of workdays to remain remote post-pandemic — Survey

A survey from a trio of researchers is suggesting that 30 per cent to 40 per cent of workdays will continue remotely even after the pandemic has ended.
During the 38th annual Economic Roundtable, Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) Assistant Professor Jose Maria Barrero said that “it’s more like one out of every four working days that is going to be provided from home” which makes the hybrid model a huge part of working arrangements in the future.
Maria Barrero and his colleagues Nicholas Bloom of Stanford University and Steven Davis of the University of Chicago are conducting monthly surveys on the changing work environment in the United States.
They are also working with the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta on another monthly survey to determine whether remote work will continue post-pandemic.
The ITAM assistant professor stated that companies without a hybrid work option could have a harder time retaining and attracting talent with seven per cent of employees saying that they are prepared to “quit on the spot” if full-time office work is restored.
Maria Barrero added that a quarter of workers will likely transition to a hybrid schedule post-pandemic, while the remaining 15 to 20% will fully work from home due to the nature of their jobs.
