400K unfilled IT jobs in Brazil forecasted by 2022

Brazil is projected to have around 400,000 vacant IT jobs by the end of 2022, according to a study conducted by Softex.
The social organization’s report says that the shortage of tech professionals is the biggest challenge for the country’s IT industry and could cost an estimated US$32 billion in lost revenue between 2010 and 2020.
Assespro-PR – Brazilian Association of Information Technology Companies CEO Lucas Ribeiro stated that boosting the local talent pool in the Latin American country is important to retain its title as the “world’s 10th biggest IT market.” Softex’s study, Ribeiro added, was carried out “to create awareness about the need for skill training” in the country.
In 2020, Brasscom Executive President Sergio Paulo Gallindo stated that Brazil recorded about 43,000 unfilled IT jobs.
