BPO sector to bring 40M jobs, $600Bn to PH

MANILA, PHILIPPINES — The global outsourcing sector is forecasted to have an “explosion” that would bring 40 million jobs and US$600 billion in revenues to the Philippines.
In an interview with CNN’s The Final Word, Outsource Accelerator (OA) Founder and CEO Derek Gallimore said that the country’s outsourcing future is “bright” due to global companies who are expanding their operations offshore.
He also described the sector as “countercyclical,” which means that the cost-cutting efforts and possible recession in the West bring more opportunities to the Philippines and other outsourcing destinations.
Gallimore also shared insights about the Time Doctor OA500, an index of the world’s top 500 outsourcing companies. The list and its methodology used aggregate “external public data points” to measure 3,000 outsourcing firms globally.
The outsourcing expert said that the index was curated to help companies “navigate, orientate, and compare” the global outsourcing market.
Gallimore added that companies could also use the data to understand the industry and the players within the industry.
