41% of employees in Singapore reports declining mental health since pandemic started

About 41% of employees in Singapore reported a deteriorating mental state at work since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a report from the NTUC (National Trades Union Congress) LearningHub.
NTUC’s latest study also found that 64% of workers are experiencing fair and poor mental wellness at work in the last 12 months due to a poor work-life balance and feeling undervalued at work.
In addition, out of the 79% of respondents that are aware of the stigma attached to mental wellness at the workplace, 61% of them are unlikely to discuss their issues at work with their employers.
Over half of employees, or 54%, are not satisfied with the current mental wellness initiatives implemented by their companies.
NTUC LHUB Healthcare Academy Chairman K. Thanaletchimi said that many employees are forced to compromise their work-life balance to secure their jobs, especially in this “current era of uncertainty.”
Thanaletchimi added that employers should ensure that initiatives are in place for the overall welfare of their employees at the workplace.
