51% of UK employees ready to quit if hybrid work is removed

More than half (51%) of employees in the United Kingdom (UK) would consider leaving their companies if the hybrid work option is removed, according to new research by Microsoft and YouGov.
In the survey conducted with 2,046 employees and 504 HR decision-makers (HRDMs), 59% of HR leaders agreed that hybrid work has a positive effect on the mental wellbeing of their workforce.
Employees also said that COVID-19 changed their concept of hybrid working from “nice to have” to “must-have,” even post-pandemic.
However, the report concedes that remote working also brings some disadvantages to the organization.
About 36% of UK employees who started a new job during the pandemic had an entirely remote onboarding process and have never set foot in their workplaces.
Microsoft stated that 42% of these workers are struggling to form working relationships, while 33% are finding it hard to have someone “in the room” for information and guidance.
Additionally, employees are also experiencing some difficulties in learning to use new software and applications (24%), earning the confidence of colleagues (23%), and soaking up the company culture (21%).
