53% of nurse leaders find outsourcing useful — AMN Healthcare report
CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES — A study by AMN Healthcare found that more than half of nurse leaders found utilizing recruitment process outsourcing (RPO) helpful in addressing workforce shortages.
Broken down, 11% of them found these services “extremely” helpful, while 43% found it “moderately” helpful. Twenty-six percent of these nurse leaders utilize recruitment process outsourcing (RPO) services to augment their staff.
The report also found that 31% or nearly 1 in 3 nurses are considering leaving their roles this year. In addition, 17% of nurse leaders indicated they would seek a new place of employment, 9% will leave the profession, 3% will remain a nurse but not in an administrative role, and 1% will retire. The study also found that 72% of nurses feel burned out.
Additionally, almost half, or 46%, of nurse leaders surveyed said that managed services providers (MSP) have aided healthcare deployment. MSPs help healthcare workers in day-to-day operations through automation, network management, security, and monitoring.
The AMN report shows that among nurse leaders, recruitment & retention, staff burnout, and labor shortages are the top three challenges they’re facing.
“Job satisfaction and personal [well-being] of nurse leaders therefore should be a primary concern of any healthcare facility seeking to maintain the continuity and effectiveness of its nurse staff,” said Christine Mackey-Ross, BSN, the president of AMN Healthcare Leadership Solutions, per Becker’s.
