6 in 10 Americans ready to embrace AI for healthcare

MINNESOTA, UNITED STATES — A recent national survey conducted by healthcare organization DUOS highlights a significant trend with six out of ten adults willing to use AI-powered tools for health-related answers.
This finding underscores a growing trust in digital health solutions and their potential to improve healthcare outcomes, particularly for older adults.
The survey, which aimed to understand the healthcare needs of aging adults, revealed that 61% of respondents believe that digital health tools have improved public health over the past three years.
Navigating complex healthcare systems
The survey also shed light on the complexities and challenges that older adults face when navigating healthcare options. Nearly half of the respondents (49%) reported being unable to distinguish between Medicare and Medicare Advantage plans, highlighting a critical knowledge gap.
This confusion is compounded by the overwhelming nature of healthcare decision-making, with 63% of participants expressing feelings of being overwhelmed when making health decisions.
The need for better education and resources
The findings from the DUOS survey emphasize the urgent need for better education and user-friendly resources to help older adults and their caregivers make informed healthcare decisions.
A significant portion of respondents (47%) were unaware of the supplemental benefits offered by Medicare Advantage plans, which could alleviate some of the financial and practical burdens associated with aging. Despite the availability of government resources, many older adults and their caregivers struggle to access and utilize these tools effectively.
The survey also revealed that 53% of respondents seek health solutions through government websites, despite challenges in usability. These challenges include convoluted navigation structures, dense language, and a lack of user-friendly interfaces tailored to the unique needs of aging adults.
With a significant portion of the population willing to embrace AI-powered tools for health answers, DUOS said that there is a clear opportunity to leverage digital health solutions to enhance healthcare outcomes and support the aging population.
