TEXAS, UNITED STATES — American Health Staffing Group (AHSG) has named David Durbin chief executive officer, replacing Kelly Rakowski, who is leaving to lead locum tenens firm All Star Healthcare Solutions.
Durbin, president of the group’s Trio Workforce Solutions business, will keep that role while running the Frisco, Texas-based healthcare staffing company.
A handover at AHSG
AHSG’s board unanimously appointed Durbin effective Oct. 12, the company said in an announcement.
Rakowski agreed to remain with AHSG through Oct. 16 to support the transition.
Durbin joined AHSG in 2025 as president of Trio, where he leads growth strategy, solution development, client services and operations.
He brings more than 20 years of healthcare workforce experience.
He was previously chief strategy officer at Prolink and senior vice president of program management at Cross Country Healthcare, and held leadership roles at AMN Healthcare and Cielo.
Earlier in his career, he spent 18 years at Iron Mountain in operational and strategic roles focused on healthcare and government.
As chief executive, he will work with AHSG’s executive leadership team to advance its strategic priorities, strengthen client relationships and drive growth.
“My first priority is to listen to our clients, our clinicians, and our team, and to build on the momentum we already have,” said Durbin.
Rakowski’s next role
All Star, headquartered in Florida, said separately on Oct. 15 that Rakowski will become its chief executive officer effective Oct. 26.
Growth investor Knox Lane partnered with All Star in May 2024, and the company has since acquired Cross Country Locums and Integrity Locums.
All Star describes itself as a top five provider of locum tenens services in the United States.
Rakowski previously served as group president and chief operating officer of strategic talent solutions at AMN Healthcare, with earlier roles at Premier, Accenture and GE Healthcare.
“All Star has built an exceptional foundation, and there’s great opportunity ahead,” said Rakowski.
AHSG said its strategic direction and organizational structure remain unchanged.
Through AHS Staffing and Trio, the group provides healthcare staffing, managed service provider (MSP) programs and vendor management system (VMS) technology to hospitals and health systems nationwide.
For hospitals and health systems, the moves put new leaders at two firms that supply clinicians through staffing agency contracts and managed services programs.
Buyers renewing workforce contracts can ask how each leadership change affects account teams and service levels, and compare partners on the top healthcare outsourcing companies in the United States list.
