QUEZON CITY, PHILIPPINES — Transcom has opened its first site in Quezon City, its seventh in the Philippines, on the twelfth floor of the Giga Tower in Bridgetowne. The move brings the company into one of Metro Manila’s major business districts and adds a new city to a Philippine footprint that spans Metro Manila, Bacolod, Iloilo and Davao.
A partnership with Quezon City
Transcom Worldwide (Philippines) Inc. is partnering with the Quezon City government on employment opportunities, access to local talent and potential business initiatives that can contribute to economic activity in the city, BusinessMirror reported on Nov. 2. The site, called Giga, opened on Oct. 28, according to The Manila Times.
Travis Coates, Transcom‘s CEO for the Americas and Asia Pacific, opened the site with Philippine operations head Kristine Bondoc. Guests included Anna Ferry, Sweden’s ambassador to the Philippines; Maria Margarita Mejia of the Quezon City government; and JP Balboa, deputy general manager of Robinsons Land Corp.
Coates puts people first
“GIGA is our first site in Quezon City and the next step in the growth of our Philippine operations,” Coates said at the ceremony, The Manila Times reported. In his inaugural speech, he said the opening was not simply about adding another workplace.
“A building is just a building until people bring it to life. What gives a workplace meaning is what happens inside it: strong teams, great work, new ideas, and the chance for every person to grow,” Coates said.
Amenities for a 10,000-strong workforce
The site includes child care services, a cafe and an in-house pharmacy. Transcom envisions it as a second home for employees, a platform for stronger client partnerships and a base from which to keep growing its business in the Philippines.
Transcom employs about 10,000 people in the Philippines and is the largest Swedish employer in the country, the Manila Times report said. “That employee wellbeing is translated into a great customer experience,” Ferry said at the opening.
Beyond business growth, Transcom said it is committed to the local community through Transcom Cares, its corporate social responsibility program focused on environmental sustainability and social support.
What it means for buyers
For clients, the Giga site gives Transcom a seventh Philippine location and its first in Quezon City. Companies comparing business process outsourcing (BPO) partners for customer experience programs can start with OA’s list of the top 40 BPO companies in the Philippines.
