Original article:
Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte has ordered the closure of four business process outsourcing (BPO) companies for alleged failure to comply with the local government’s order.
The City of Davao has already ordered BPOs to operate with just a skeletal staff or to offer work-from-home arrangements. The four BPO firms had continued to operate full-time despite the threat of the coronavirus disease.
Ten BPO companies have already voluntarily suspended their operations as the Covid-19 pandemic continues, while 11 companies are still under monitoring for compliance. Duterte said BPO operations are considered a mass gathering because of the number of employees involved.
