Metro Manila, 4 other provinces back to GCQ until April 4

Metro Manila, as well as the provinces of Cavite, Bulacan, Laguna, and Rizal, will be placed under General Community Quarantine (GCQ) with additional restrictions starting today, March 22, until April 4.
President Duterte approved the recommendation of the inter-agency task force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases, as indicated in its Resolution No. 104. Some of the restrictions include:
- Only essential travel will be allowed, but public modes of transportation will remain operational, with capacities already approved.
- Mass gatherings are prohibited.
- The private sector is encouraged to adopt alternative work arrangements, like a 50% on-site capacity.
The new lockdown restrictions were announced after the country reported a record-high 7,999 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday. It happened over a year after the initial lockdown restrictions were enforced in the country.
