Jamaica to implement five-year strategy to expand its BPO sector

Jamaica’s Minister of Industry, Investment, and Commerce is committed to implementing the National Five-year Global Digital Services Strategy to expand the country’s Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry.
The strategy aims to increase employment by 2025 by generating 70,000 jobs, up from the current 40,000. It is also set to train the students in new digital skills of a higher-value skill set in the Jamaican landscape along the outsourcing value chain.
The bill is drafted to amend the Companies Act to allow a company in Jamaica to hold general meetings as hybrid meetings, in-person, and virtually, or completely electronic meetings.
