NCR, nearby areas to achieve herd immunity by November – DOH

The Philippines is expecting to achieve herd immunity against COVID-19 in Metro Manila and 8 other areas by November, as the Department of Health aims to vaccinate at least 108,000 people a day in these areas.
In an interview, Health Undersecretary Myrna Cabotaje said they target herd immunity “at least for the NCR plus (Metro Manila, Laguna, Cavite, Bulacan, Rizal).”
“We will receive about 10 to 11 million doses this June, July, August so more or less [the vaccine supply is steady] so we will be able to reach a lot of vaccines especially in the NCR plus areas,” she said.
The government is hoping to vaccinate at least 50 million people this year to achieve herd immunity from COVID-19 nationwide.
