IT-BPO not rushing return to office

India’s Information Technology-Business Process Outsourcing (IT-BPO) industry started revamping its plans to recall employees back to offices.
The industry will hold back from asking employees to return to offices – allowing them to keep working from home – until more of them have been vaccinated.
The National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) said it estimates about 20-25 percent of the employees have received at least one dose by now.
The industry had to shelve implementing its return-to-work strategies following the sharp rise in COVID-19 cases in March.
The IT-BPO sector originally predicted that at least 30 percent of employees would be returning to offices by July and 60-70 percent by the end of December. However, these figures were re-evaluated to about 10 to 15 percent by the end of July and 40 to 50 percent by the end of 2021, after the second wave hit the country.
