India eases guidelines for BPO sector

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the government’s move of relaxing the guidelines for other service providers (OSPs) was simplified to reduce the compliance burden and further encourage India’s business process outsourcing (BPO) industry.
The guidelines removed the distinction between domestic and global units, allowing interconnectivity between all types of OSPs – application services, IT-enabled services, call center services, or any kind of outsourcing services – using common communication resources, which are expected to lead to cost-savings for BPO companies.
“In order to encourage our BPO industry, OSP guidelines that were liberalized in November 2020 have been simplified even further, offering greater ease of business and regulatory clarity,” Modi said in a tweet.
The guidelines will position India as a central player in the international BPO and will make the country a favorable destination for the expansion of voice-related BPO centers.
