30 arrested in 2 fake call centers in Delhi

Thirty people were arrested from two fake call centers in Rohini for allegedly defrauding United Kingdom nationals by posing as personnel from the UK’s Department of Justice and Revenue and Customs department.
Delhi Police said the fake call centers would contact foreign nations through Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and inform them that criminal cases have been filed against them for tax dues. They would then instruct them to transfer money to UK-based accounts to remedy the charges.
“Over 10 laptops, 46 mobile phones, and Rs 17,50,000 cash have been seized along with an SUV car, checkbooks, debit cards, and other electronic devices from the fake call centers,” said the police.
