IT-BPM sector to drive office space demand

A Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) report prepared for Filinvest Land, Inc. (FLI) revealed that the country’s Information Technology-business Process Management (IT-BPM) industry will continue to drive demand for office spaces in the Philippines.
JLL noted that while the work-from-home setup was “generally feasible,” Philippine households are faced with internet connection issues. The setup also runs the risk of data security breaches.
Due to this, the report stated that the IT-BPM sector “may continue to spearhead demand for office spaces and this potential new trend of setting up satellite offices would be a strategic fit for the industry considering the significant number of employees in the sector.”
Many BPO companies are reportedly likely to set up satellite offices outside of Metro Manila. The firm also expects increased demand in office leasing in Cebu City, Clark in Pampanga, and Bacolod City in Negros Occidental.
